Bilateral dysfunction of superior laryngeal nerves as a consequence of cervical necrotising fasciitis
نویسنده
چکیده
Prikaz primera: 71-letna bolnica s cervikalnim nekrozantnim fasciitisom je po operaciji dobila težave z disfagijo. Radiološka in fiberoptična obravnava sta pokazali aspiriranje in hiposenzibiliteto glotisa in supraglotisa. Ozdravitev cervikalnega nekrozantnega fasciitisa in toksičnega nevritisa sta omogočili povrnitev senzorične funkcije in požiranja.

Bilateral Internal Superior Laryngeal Nerve Palsy of Traumatic Cervical Injury Patient Who Presented as Loss of Cough Reflex after Anterior Cervical Discectomy with Fusion
Injury to the bilateral internal branch of superior laryngeal nerve (ibSLN) brings on an impairment of the laryngeal cough reflex that could potentially result in aspiration pneumonia and other respiratory illnesses. We describe a patient with traumatic cervical injury who underwent bilateral ibSLN palsy after anterior cervical discectomy with fusion (ACDF). An 75-year-old man visited with cerv...

Purpose: The aim of this study was to identify laryngeal nerves anastomosis by dissection methods. Materials and Methods: forty human hemi- larynxes were dissected. The recurrent and branches of superior laryngeal nerve (SLN) were dissected under steriomicroscpe and separated from the surrounding tissues. All of the nerves were dissected in order to find the connection branches between laryngea...
متن کاملCervical necrotising fasciitis consequent to mastoid infection.
We present a case of cervical necrotising fasciitis in a 56 year old man, secondary to a rare mastoid infection. The patient had coexisting diabetes mellitus and hypertension. He was treated with early surgical debridement followed by neck and chest reconstruction and radical mastoidectomy. Aggressive antibiotic therapy and supportive care was given. He recovered well with minimal residual func...
متن کاملIndications for Direct Laryngoscopic Examination of Vocal Cord Function Prior to Anterior Cervical Surgery
Recurrent laryngeal nerve palsy (RLNP) is among the most common complications in both thyroid surgeries and anterior approaches to the cervical spine, having both a diverse etiology and presentation. Most bilateral paresis, with subsequent devastating impact on patients, are due to failure to recognize unilateral recurrent laryngeal nerve paralysis and, although rare, are entirely preventable w...
متن کاملThree variations of the laryngeal nerve in the same patient: a case report
INTRODUCTION A non-recurrent course is a rare anatomic variation of the inferior laryngeal nerve (ILN). Bilateral extra-laryngeal bifurcation of the ILN seldom occurs before its laryngeal entry. Anastomosis between the ILN and cervical sympathetic chain is another rare anatomic feature. The prevalence of extra-laryngeal branching of the non-recurrent nerve is unknown. We present an example of t...
